Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island

Nanhai Pearl Artificial Island (南海明珠人工岛) is an under-construction, artificial island situated in Haikou Bay, Haikou, Hainan, China.
The islands is being produced to improve the image of the city of Haikou, and create a tourist facility.〔〔 The total landmass created will be about 3 km2. This peanut-shaped island will contain a water sports area, commercial zone, and seaplane docks. An access road has already been constructed, reaching the shore at the western end of Evergreen Park.〔
==History==

The project was launched in October 2009. On October 19, 2010, the rights to use the area in the sea was obtained. Construction began on October 23, 2012. Completion of the island is expected in December 2012. The total investment in the project is expected to be approximately 1.2 billion yuan.〔〔
At least since Typhoon Rammasun in July 2014, no construction has taken place. As of April 2015, the site is overgrown with rusted construction materials strewn about. Adjacent to the stone access road, most of the concrete bridge footings are present for an eventual raised bridge to the island. A structure on the island has been built, but remains unfinished.
